A small suburban backyard at dusk with an uplit tree glowing amber

Big worlds for small backyards.

Patios, gardens, lighting and hand-built rock work for Milton-area homes, designed like a film set so an ordinary suburban lot feels like somewhere else.

A suburban lot has more room than it looks.

Mark Fisher has been planting since he was fifteen and building outdoor spaces around Milton since 2006. His favourite job is the one most companies skip: the ordinary backyard behind a subdivision home, given depth, layers and a story. Stone that looks like it has always been there. Planting that frames a view. Light that makes the whole thing glow after dinner.

I love movie sets. I always envisioned making miniature escarpments.

What we build

Six kinds of work, often combined in one yard. Pick the one you’re thinking about and we’ll start there.

Armour stone steps climbing from a patio to the upper lawn

Mark’s signature work

Miniature escarpments

The Niagara Escarpment runs right past Milton. We bring a scaled-down piece of it home: layered limestone outcrops, a trickle of water, ferns and mosses tucked into the cracks.

Garden railways

G-scale trains winding through rock cuts, over little bridges and past planted hillsides. A whole miniature world, built to run outdoors and big enough to watch from the patio.

Gardens & planting

Planting since he was fifteen. From calm, Japanese-inspired corners to lush colour, chosen for your sun, your soil and how much time you want to spend weeding.

Outdoor lighting

In-Lite trained, with a demo kit in the truck. Low-voltage LED that lights trees, paths and patios without glare.

A patio with a fire table and outdoor sofas

Patios & stonework

Natural stone, pavers and large slabs for dining, lounging, fire pits, walkways and front steps.

Plan a patio

A putting green below a pergola

Artificial turf & putting greens

Green all year with no watering or mowing, for play areas, dog runs, narrow side yards and backyard putting greens.

Plan turf or a green

A patio at night with a fire pit and an uplit tree

Most yards disappear at sunset.

Mark trained with In-Lite this past winter and now designs and installs low-voltage LED lighting: trees lit from below, steps you can see, a patio you’ll actually use after dark.

  • See it before you buy: an evening demo with In-Lite’s sample kit, in your own yard
  • Low-voltage, so it’s safe around gardens, kids and pets
  • Warm light aimed at plants and paths, not your neighbours’ windows

Questions people ask

Answers grouped by the kind of work are on the FAQ page.

Where do you work?

Milton and the surrounding area. If you’re close by and not sure, call Mark and ask.

How does a consult work?

Tell us a little about the project. The form takes a couple of minutes. Mark then gets in touch to set up a visit, walks the yard with you, talks through ideas and follows up with a quote.

When should I book?

Spring and summer fill up first, so the earlier the better. Winter is a good time to plan and design for a spring start.

How much does a project cost?

It depends on size and materials, so we don’t publish prices. The consult form asks for a rough budget so Mark can suggest what fits, and bigger ideas can be built in phases.
